One of the greatest things about friendship at this stage of life is that we can be completely ourselves. No need to impress, no need to pretend. We’ve lived, we’ve learned, and we appreciate realness. Surround yourself with people who embrace you exactly as you are—those are the friendships that last.
I always loved Oprah’s quote:
“Everyone wants to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”

The pandemic pushed us onto Zoom and that allowed the women who had moved away to remain connected. The older I get, the more scattered and/or disconnected my family becomes, the more important these connections become .
